C. Xtavier Sanders aka Flaunt
Music Producer
Growing up on old school music, such as The Isley Brothers, The Spinners, Kool & The Gang, Brother Johnsons, Ohio Players etc..which, of course, was a drop in the bucket from my father's collection. I remember listening to music on my father's record player, 8 track deck or Reel to Reel which would have me dreaming about being some-place relaxing while enjoying the ambiance, it's a little hard to explain but it was a good feeling back in the late 70's and early 80's.
Moving forward to the 90's, one of my favorite CD's was the Chronic and that took me back to the place I previously mentioned. Fast-forward to 2000 I got introduced to making beats with my great longtime friend A.J. He showed me how to make beats on the MPC, which I was horrible at but I kept trying because I was intrigued by the work involved in just making a beat and hearing the end result while being part of the entire process but at the same time it was frustrating for me, so I eventually quit trying to make beats. I know..I know...what a loser, right? It all changed for me in 2005 when I got that fire back to making beats. I was using Fruity Loops, which is now called FL Studio. I also used Propellerhead Reason 3 or 4 but I eventually felt good when I bought the Native Instrument Maschine back in 2009, it reminded me of the MPC but less complicated for me at the time.
Since then I've produced several albums for my label "FDG Records". People ask me all the time what does FDG stand for, Flaunt Da Gift, and I got the name from one of my favorite artist, KRS One! from a song called "TCha TCha" he said "God gave me a talent so let me "Flaunt The Gift".....yeah I changed "The Gift to "Da Gift"..you know I was just trying to put my stamp on it..lol I've had the opportunity to work with local artist in the DMV (DC, Maryland, VA) area on small projects. I've been involved in submitting tracks for ESPN and working with promoters /A&R's (Universal & Sony) who work closely with major labels. It's truly a long road but if you work hard you have no choice but to be successful.
